Meeting For The First Time

First meeting with a fellow blogger, a nice lady from Kuala Lumpur. Her name is Raynebows and hope she does not mind me posting this now. In fact, she is a IPOH mali lady who knows where to get all the good food ...much better than me! (paiseh me)

It happened a couple of Saturdays ago, received a sms in the morning, asking me whether got time to yam char (drink tea) or not... Feeling excited to meet a blogger for the first time, without hesitation, I replied "yes, no problem." After some exchange of sms and phone calls, we met somewhere near my house ...

Coming to IPOH means "makan je", right? So instead of me taking her, she took me instead and we went to Pasir Pinji to savor the laksa, noodles and their varieties of fish balls and fried stuff....

My Poor Red Babe...

WRONG ESTIMATION and my carelessness caused this "Injury" to my car during lunch time. As I was manoeuvring a corner to park inside the IRC compound, I thought I could avoid the divider at the entrance... thought it would be "just nice" until I heard a "bong" and some scratching sound.... aikkksss.... too late, damage was done.

My lunch appetite was gone in a whim! The scratch was quite deep... even polishing will not help to take away the "sore".... haiyah.... one lesson learnt.... I must not be too lazy to reverse! One good thing though... no appetite then, less food intake... sigh...

Classic Jewelry

Summer weddings and dinners are flourishing this month, many couples are tying up their knots to walk the marriage life journey together, feelings of love fills in the air. In fact, I am looking forward to attending a wedding dinner this Saturday. So what other moment than this shall we give to our love ones? For him and her, let me recommend Holsted Jewelers website, one of the online best known jewelers of all times.

This Holsted Jewelers offers a wide range of beautiful, affordable jewelry designs, most suitable for couples, ranging from classic to contemporary styles in fashion and fine jewelry at affordable prices. Besides jewelry, they have fashion accessories too, handbags, sunglasses, watches that comes with unique, affordable and stylish designs. Their designs are really exquisite and classy, I am sure many of us ladies will find this website very interesting!

Talking About Health....

Besides taking multi vitamins, my mum told me that it is also effective to boil some chinese herbs to replenish our blood once a fortnight, especially for us ladies. So... one weekend, feeling "hardworking", I bought a "kampong" chicken and boiled it with some red dates and "kei chee".

Red dates is to replenish blood and "kei chee" is to improve our eyesight. Then together with the chicken, I used the double-steamed pot and boiled for nearly four hours. By the time it was ready, it was almost 10pm...

Well, just nice to drink before we went to sleep...

Just A Precaution

I received this email about our home phones... I remember lately I have been receiving calls from people I don't know, sometimes they said "hello, hello" and then hung up and at times, no sound from the other end. Now I will hang up fast when no one responds on the other side... just in case...

To those who have a telekom home phone, please read. Here is the original text received from Telekom:

If you get a call from someone identifying himself as a phone technician performing a test, and this person asks you to touch nine( 9 ), zero( 0 ),hash sign ( # ) and then hang up... Please REFUSE TO DO SO! By pushing 90#, you are giving the individual, who called you, access to your telephone line and allowing them to place a long distance call with the charges appearing on your telephone bill.

Health Drink

When I visited the home for the elderly for the second time recently, I noticed this time that many of them were quite independent. Meaning to say, most of the elderly ladies I saw were actually walking by themselves without help, feeding themselves without having to be fed and some were even chatting away heartily with one another.

Most were in the their seventies and I was thinking whether their condition could be much improved if they were given proper diet and nutrients. As we all know that when we age, our bodies immune system become weaker, thus, in order to replenish or to strengthen ourselves, we should get a good nutrient drink such as duocal . Ever heard of this? According to their website, Duocal Powder is a high calorie, protein-free, lactose-free, gluten-free powdered food that can be used orally or in tube feedings. It is specially processed to those who are for protein and/or electrolyte restricted diets. More details are in the website and do check out with a medical professional first before consumption as the intake is dependant on age, body weight and medical condition of the patient or individual.

Peace For Now

Nowadays I am quite happy in the office, no one to disturb, internet connection is great and I hope no more interference from the IT staff. As long as we do not complain about the system too slow, then they will not come to "kacau" us. Hope it stays that way. I wonder how long this bliss will last, sometimes being too peaceful in the office scares me.....

Oh, tomorrow there will be a farewell breakfast for 2 of our office men who will be transferred to another office. I hope my turn will not come yet, it has been 5 years since I work in this department, time to be due for transfer but hopefully, they will not "notice" me.... I am in the comfort zone now where working life is concerned.....

Any Car For Sale?

Wanted to ask... anyone has a iswara aeroback or saga for sale? I wanted to get a not-too-expensive car, say around RM5-7K... for my son. Preferably in Ipoh or Penang so that we can deal directly without going to the second car dealers. My son needs a car now since he is staying out of the hostel, just to move around conveniently within that vicinity is good enough. So... if anyone of u want to change your old car for a new one, please think of me here? Thanks...

Investment In PowerOptions

One of my close friends love investing in online stocks exchange. She told me that investing money here brings more dividends than putting the money in Fixed Deposits or Unit Trusts. Personally, I do not agree because for one, I do not know how to indulge in online market trading and secondly, I do not have the extra cash to invest...lol...

When it comes to investments, it is advisable to analyse carefully what are the stocks to take up and which are the ones making profits. Ever heard of iron condor? Frankly, this is the first time I heard of it and I am curious to know more. But I am not a stock investor so I do not fully understand how it works. How about you? For those who wants to know more, there is a free trial in their website now. PowerOption's suite of tools will help you search for the highest return Iron Condor trades from over 200,000 Condor possibilities.

A CHILD IS BORN....

A new mama, Lynn, I want to congratulate her for her newborn baby who came into this world on the 10th July.... my frens teased me that I am her "kai ma" (godma) so that makes me a "kai poh" (godgranny...lol....) She and her baby are fine, though she is still tired, (epidural case), she is still full of high spirits over her baby girl... both hubby and wife are still overwhelmed seeing their "creation" now with them at last....

With their courtesy and permission, here are some pictures which I took...

Take Number In Buntong Coffeeshop!

Continuation of yesterday's post on baby, my fren has given birth to a 4.1 kg baby girl this morning at 8am... Both mama and baby are doing fine in the hospital now, so chubby, both of them.. lol... I have taken a few pictures of baby but haven't ask for permission yet to post them here... so till later.... meanwhile ... lets talk about food...

Ask any Ipoh locals for "Mun Toong fun" (Buntong noodles) and they will answer..."aiyah, that one ah, have to take number one."
Yes, true... you have to take number from one ah pek upon entering into the corner shoplot along Yau Tet Shin Street, IPOH... BUT.... no, not now anymore.... I think their business has slow down this one year or so... Ah Pek at the counter does not give number tag anymore... the crowd is still there during the weekends but not weekdays anymore. It is opened in the morning and evening around 6pm or so...

i love the kon loe noodles
the lard makes it tasty...

varieties of fish balls, bean curd ...

their beef stew is also nice and sweet...

of course, the fried foo pei too
unfortunately my pic turned out blur on that..

Seeing With Zenni

During my previous trip to Penang, my son told me he wanted a new pair of glasses, preferably sunglasses because each day he has to walk 10 minutes to college under the bright burning sun. Well, I agreed so off we went looking in the shopping malls, tried on a few pairs but none suited him at all, either the price was too high or the styles didn't suit him.

Well, I was thinking how wonderful if he would just choose one pair of $8 RX eyeglasses from Zennioptical. Saves our time going from shop to shop, furthermore it is so cheap, just for the price of $8 onwards, you can have a nice pair of glasses. Perhaps I will hint to him about this website, after all, if Zenni Optical on TV is shown, then it must be something good! Tomorrow I will be visiting him again, hope he will listen to me, and if he does agree, I am going to give High Five to Zenni Optical!

"Congratulations, God-Grandmother"

Early-early morning, I took my young mama colleague to the government clinic for her regular checkup. Of course, we "makan" first... then I accompanied her for awhile before I left for office.

11.30am, young mama rang me, "Can drive me to the Labour Room?" "HUH? Going to give birth now?" my heart thumping..... she said "No, no, not yet." It seems her baby is over-big, extra-big and she was advised to check into the Labour room for a Gynae to scan through.

So I rushed off again to the clinic, picked up the young mama and drove her to the General Hospital one kilometre away. Lazy to go back office, I waited for her at the Labour Room till 1pm, but still no sign of her coming out from the doc's room, I rushed to pick up my girl from school.

3.30pm, young mama called up to say she had to be admitted to hospital for a C-rean tomorrow morning. OH...oh.... doctor said baby too big, risky to put her into labour so have to do an operation the next day soonest... hopefully....

My colleagues teased me.... "Congratulations! U r going to be a grandma soon!" I said, "Yeah, yeah.... how I wish I am... heheee...."

All About Shoes

Mega sales is on now till August in every departmental store. Weekends will be jammed up with cars as usual in every part of the town. During this time, people will take this opportunity to buy and store up groceries and attires for the coming festivals and special occasions. As for me, it is a no-no, I fear going to shopping malls when there are grand sales going on. The thought of squeezing through the crowd and queuing up to pay is very discouraging. I prefer to buy whatever I need nearby my house and and go home to do my work online instead. Working means surfing the Internet, browsing through items I love to have and purchasing them without having to queue up to pay.

One favorite website I love browsing is about fashion, not only attires but on shoes, bags, and ladies' accessories as well. I am looking for a nice pair of comfortable sandals. This website has a wide selection of up-to-date fashionable shoes that look comfortable, casual, elegant, cute, sleek and yet affordable as well. Furthermore, summer sales is on now, discounts and free shipping to certain places are included too. Well, I will definitely go for this online shoes anytime...
